Thank you for being a member of the Wisconsin Academy of Ophthalmology (WAO) and supporting your profession in our state. My name is Suzanne Falkenberry and I am in the incoming president of WAO for 2018-19 membership year. I am a glaucoma specialist with Gundersen Health in La Crosse.
We are proud of the work that WAO has accomplished over the past year. We advocated for our patients by successfully passing early eyedrop refill legislation. Our annual meeting was reformatted and moved to the fall. It was very well supported and got great reviews. We received a Platinum Participation award from AAO for our support of the residency advocacy program at the AAO mid year forum.
As we start this membership year, we are looking forward to more opportunities to serve our members. Our 2018 annual meeting set for September 21-22 features several nationally known speakers. WAO offers state level legislative advocacy, which is where many issues related to scope and policy occur. We will again be supporting Doctor Day at the capitol on May 1, 2019 and I hope everyone, especially those who haven’t attended before, to come to Madison for the day.
I encourage everyone to renew their membership. We can’t do all the important work we do without your support.
